Must-See Highlights in the Müllerthal

The Müllerthal is known for its enchanting natural beauty and wealth of cultural and historical treasures. Be sure not to miss these iconic spots during your stay.

1. The Schiessentümpel Waterfall

The Schiessentümpel is the Müllerthal’s most famous photo spot. This picturesque waterfall, where the waters of the Schwarze Ernz cascade in three streams over moss-covered rocks, is spanned by a distinctive wooden bridge dating from 1879.

2. The Gorges: Kuelscheier & Hohllay

  • Kuelscheier: One of the narrowest and most thrilling rock gorges in the region. Here you’ll hike through a pitch-black crevice between sandstone cliffs dozens of meters high (tip: bring a flashlight!).
  • Hohllay (Hollay Cave): An impressive open cave where millstones were once carved from the rocks. The circular marks in the rock still serve as a reminder of this history.

3. Historic Castles & Towns

  • Echternach: Luxembourg’s oldest town. Stroll through the charming town center, visit the famous abbey, or relax by the large lake in Echternach.
  • Beaufort Castle: Explore the ruins of the medieval castle and the adjacent Renaissance castle. Don’t forget to sample the local Cassero (blackcurrant liqueur)!
  • Larochette Castle: An impressive castle ruin towering high above the romantic Wark Valley.
